Korean wheat flour noodle

This food is called wheat flour noodle.

It is traditional food of Busan of Korea.

When Korean war was broke out, refugges made and ate it

because rice was too expensive. In Busan, it was difficult to get buckwheat

which is ingredient of buckwhet noodle. So instead of buckwheat, people

mixed wheat flour with potato starch and sweet potato starch.

These days, people eat it with some vegetables and make various wheat flour noodles.

In summer, people like cool and clean taste of its soup.

Japchae (Mixed Vegetables with Noodles)

  This dish is very common at Korean celebration parties and special occasions. Japchae is a well-loved Korean dish which incorporates virtually any selection of vegetables. Those in season have the best flavor. Vegetables are fried separately in a minimal amount of oil. Other ingredients can include match stick-sliced beef and vermicelli noodles (made from potatoes and sweet potatoes). When each ingredient has been fried and the noodles cooked and cut into short lengths, all the ingredients are combined, sauteed quickly, and seasoned with soy sauce, sesame oil, and sugar.

Mixed Rice

Mixed Rice is a Korean traditional food.
First of all, Mixed Rice is very convenient to make.
The ingredients of Mixed Rice are included only rice and a handful kinds of vegetables. In particular, I like to mix laver.
My mother made us Mixed Rice when she was delight.
In Daejeon, I don't eat delicious Mixed Rice than mother's. Suddenly, I miss my mother.. ㅜ.ㅜ
To modern people, time is just like a gold. So Mixed Rice has a advantage in time to serve it, it is still beloved by many people.

My favorite food (instant noodles)

Actually, I don't like cook because I am so lazy. So I usually eat the instant noodles but I think it is one of the most famous food in my country because almost korean have eaten it more than once. I think It is very convenient food because it dosen't need much time. It takes about 5 minutes for ready. Moreover it has many kinds of tastes such as jjapagetti, sinramyun and ssalguksu. So if I want to eat something different taste, I just go convenient store and choose one. Nowadays, It has been exported all of the world. So it is going to be one of the most popular food in the world.

Sweet rice juice

Do you know about Sweet rice drink?

The korean name is Sikhye.

If you want to know about korean food of hoilday, you must know about that.

This is a juice which contains a rice in it.

My grandmother used to make that in every holiday.

The taste is sweet as that's name.

If you put thin ice in it, when you eat this, I confident that you will feel so good!

My favorite food (fatback of pig)

It's my favorite food called fatback of pig , and many people like this. This consists of three layers of pig's stomach.

people roast it to eat. while roasting ,it makes very delious sound and stimulate me it fits with kimchi ,soju well . when we go to restaurant to eat this , a lot of vegetable are provided ( bean paste pot stew as well) for free

Pumpkin porridge

there are various kinds of porridge( jook) in Korea. Pumpkin porridge, which made of Pumpkin and glutinous rice is my favorite.

It is really easy to make and you could buy it from everywhere.

Pumpkin contains carotene , vitamin B and E .

They could help to cure gastritis and ulcer.

I personally have very weak stomach, so my mom cooked it for me frenquently.

It seems like just light dessert , but it could be substituted to your meal.

If you want to try pumpkin porridge, just tell me.

Cold Buckwheat Noodle Soup (Naengmyeon)

Do you know Cold Buckwheat Noodle Soup (Naengmyeon)? It is the best summer food, indeed. All koreans eats it in summer and loves it.
Water Cold Buckwheat Nodle Soup put a cold noodle soup, noodle hit for buckwaheat flour and green bean, beef, chicken or watery soup and took the pheasant broth (to dilute the taste of that with make radish Kim-Chi) to make soup with juice. Sliced beef, sliced radish Kim-Chi, Pears, put ingredients like boiled eggs are served along with mustard and vinegar.
Mixed Cold Buckwheat Nodle do not make the soup. It with spicy chili-based sauce seansoned with food dish, topped with fluke sashimi and should eat.

kalguksu/Noodle Soup

I'm introduce Kalguksu.


Kalguksu is korea traditional noodle food.


This is made of flour.

First, mix the flour and water to make dough.

Second, lay out the dough and cut good to eat.

Third, Put in boiling water.

Finally, put food on a plate. Then, this is very delicious and tasty.

I'm recommend to eat kalguksu , then you begin to like kalguksu

I will introduce skate ray.

Skate ray is a fish.

Maybe If I tell like this, You can understand soon.

In Korea, Most people call 'Hong-eour'.

Yeah, This food is very interesting. ^^;;

But, Fermemted skate ray is much more known.

Of course I also ate this.

........Taste is very strange and interesting;;;

When I ate this first time, At first I think this is ok....

BUT....(Oh my god... I still remember that moment....T^T)

The smell of fermented skate ray is out of my noise....

A few months ago, I ate this with raw rice wine(makgeolli;;).

That was ok. After eating that, Raw rice wine was very sweet.

Fast-fermented bean paste(Cheong-Guk Jang)

Fast-fermented bean paste is South korea's traditional food. In Korea, as commonly called "Cheong-Guk Jang". It's specific disgusting smell. So there are many people who avoid the food. However, people say that eat it. If you eat "Cheong-Guk Jang", you will be attracted to it. And "Chung-Guk Jang" contains much of many kind of nutritions in it and not only for diet but is also good for health. If you visit South korea, I recommend to eat "Cheong-Guk Jang".

One of popular Korean food - Dried seaweed rolls

I love dried seaweed rolls(gimbab) !
Because it remind me of my old memories..
when i was a child .. going to elementary school..
if there is a plan for excursion .. my mom always made dried rice roll
for me by herself! she never buy it.. only made by herself.
and it taste fantastic.. !! it has a lot of kind.. too..
the only bad thing it has is it's complicated
to make it.. ! my mom always woke up at the break of the day
to make it..
Anyway.!!dried seaweed rice roolls is wonderfull!
it is popular in most of South Korea.
and it's good with cheese, kimchi... any kind of food!!

Chicken soup with ginseng!!

Chicken ginseng soup is an energizing soup-based dish. It is traditionally served during the summer for its nutrients which can easily be lost through excessive sweating and physical exertion during the hot summer. Commonly, a whole chicken is boiled in a broth with Korean ginseng, dried jujube fruits, garlic, ginger and glutinous rice. Hot pepper powder can be added to enrich its flavors and taste to one's preference. Like the chicken soup, which is considered to help common sickness, chicken soup with ginseng is also known be cure physical ailments and prevent sickness as well. I supplemented my diet with chicken soup with ginseng every summer.

This is Dea-jeon traditional food. It's spicy.
It include bean curd, onion, green onion, carrot. Sauce is a Korean hot paper paste. We choose a coils and add a pork & squid. It is stimulate taste. Very nice!! If you visit Dea-jeon, you should try this. Otherwise, you'll regret.

The five greatest wonders

If someone visit to Korea, I will recommend 5 places. Actually, it has a lot of beautiful places in Korea but we can not go all of them. So I just choose 5 places. The first is The Korean folk villiage. It is a traditional villiage of korea. So if we go there, we can see traditional houses as well as their life. The second is Sulak Mt. It is one of the most beautiful mountain in South korea. It is good for school trips. So almost students may have been there once or more. Third-one is Je-ju instrument museum. I heard that the instruments is made of crystal, glass and something different meterials. So we should go and have a look. The forth-one is the Tower Palace apartment. It located in Seoul. Actually it is very expensive to buy one place. So there are living someone who is very rich. The last-one is Kumgang Mt. Actually we can not go there at the moment because it is in North Korea. It is most beautiful mountain in Korea. Almost korean want to go there. So hopefully, we can go there soon.

My secret dream is buying my own telescope.
My major is astronomy. I like watching stars in the night since I was a child
That's why I decided my major which is astronomy.
It absolutely fascinate watching stars, galaxies, shooting stars.
Lens is most important part of telescope. Making big and good lens is difficult.
So, Telescope is expensive :(((((

At the trafalgar square, London

1. My homecity is Daegu. As you know, Daegu is surrounded by mountains. So,in summer, Daegu is terribly hot. It takes aout 1 hour from Daejeon by KTX.

2. I've been to London for 1 year. Beacause of studying English. When I was in London, I've been to Paris for trip. This time is my best times in my life.

3. Many of my family is an artist. My farther is the artist, My mother is also the artist. My two uncles who are farther's side are the artist. My brother is studying art.

4. I like watching japan animation. (I'm not otaku!!) I've been whatching for 5 years maybe.

Therefore, My japanese speaking and listening is quite good. Beacause of that, When I was in London, I could talk with many japanese friends in japanese naturally.

1. My hometown is Busan of Korea. Im fact, I was born in Chungcheongnam-do. But as soon as
I was born, my family moved in Busan. So I lived in Busan for 19 years. Although my parents
don't use dialect, I have so strong accent.

2. I like Korean historical drama very much. Historical Dramas are so touching and amazing.
Actually, from middle school to high school, my favorite subject was history. Some time Korean
history makes me feel bitter and some time makes me be proud.

3. When I was young, I had sleepwalking. I scared myself and even I went to professional
counsellor. fortunately, I came back soon and became normal. I can't remember what I did
in sleep. I just listened from my fanily.

4. In fact, I can't play the piano very well. But 1 month ago, one of my friends who major in
piano instructed me. So I practiced just one melody. And now I can just one melody.

5. I like very spicy food. So I eat Koean food very well. I like kimchi, chilli, curry etc

First of all, you guys don't know where my nickname 'shane' came from..My korean name is '이현(Lee Hyun)' and the word '현-炫(Hyun)'means 'shine'

So, I got inspiration from the pronunciation .

two words have similar pronunciation.

For that reason, my nickname 'Shane' derived from 'Shine'

Second, I'm on a diet ..these days..I hope that i have skinny body!!!!!!It's my STRONG WISH .. my aim is loosing 8kg !!I wanna wear super skinny jeans.. it's my strong desire (T.T)So I restrain my appetite and eat vegetables, sweetpotato, lowfat milk ...I will made it!! at any cost!!!!!

Third, I had a pet.. but.. he diedI'm fond of pet! dogs,cats...

but i have no ability to raising them..I raised my dog..

but the dog was stricken with disease.. and he died.

My secret dream is the world conquest by aircraft. And then I'll conquer outer-space by spacecraft.

1. I have two puppys. One is Maltese and the other is pomeranian. The past, i'm afraid of dogs, but now i love dog. They extremly cute♡

2. I'm good at singing song. 2 years ago, i participated in music festival. i received a prize(First place).

3. I was 20, i got beauty licenses (Nails & Make up). I like drawing on nails and then i'm good at color sensation. I always practice nail&make up techniqe.

4. My major is horticulture. Now i'm studying landscape architecture. I wanna be a landscape architect.

5. Every morning i'm going to a swimming place. I usually swim with my uncle. I started swim at 6month ago. My best swimming style is freestyle. I think.. swim is best exercise to me.

Five Things You Don’t Know About Me…

1) I’m a Valentine’s Day baby. That’s right; my birthday is on Valentine’s Day.
2) I hate staying inside during the weekends. If I don’t go somewhere or do something I feel like I’m being lazy.
3) I used to own a really cool Jeep truck called the Eliminator. The name speaks for itself. Let’s just say people used to always joke around about it.
4) I love riding my bike. I ride it everywhere I go. Back in the United States, I would often wake up some Saturdays and ride a hundred miles (160Km) just for fun. My longest bike ride in one day was 125 miles (201km). I also like bike touring!
5) I actually like Leo Tolstoy’s book Anna Karenina. Even though it’s a zillion pages long, I couldn’t put it down. The characters just came to life and felt real.

I was born and raised in Yeong Dong, Chung Buk.

It is a good place to live in. Fresh air, clean water, sunshine, birds singing.

At the age of 21, I entered the army.

I realized 2 years later that the world is beautiful. And I was smiling for a while.

outside - Fresh air, clean water, sunshine, genial weather, birds singing.

inside - Guests of dust(like yellow dust), boiled water, gloomy sky, heat wave, heavy rain & snow, loud noises.

I started studying TOEIC two weeks ago.

But, I keep forgetting words, and I feel like my mind is working very slowly. So, I'm kicking myself for not studying English harder.

I'm a little alcoholic.
But it’s a long time since I have drunk. Actually, I prefer drinking party to alcohol. The picture shows that the beer belongs to me and a marinated squid jerky is free addition.

I can't swim at all.

Objective

The purpose of this class is to help students feel more confident speaking and interacting in English. Also, my hope is that everyone will leave with a better understanding of Western Culture. We will use numerous communicative activities, and hopefully have an enjoyable time. The outcome of this class is completely dependent on you, the student. If you don't try your hardest, you will not receive the best grade. Take Terri Gulick's words to heart. He is a motivational speaker and teacher who once said, 'If it's meant to be; it's up to me.' This means that if you want to improve your English the only person who can change this is YOU! Therefore, I will do my best and you need to do your best as well.

Grading

The final grade for the course will be divided as follows:

30%  Participation

40%  Mid-Term Exam

10%  Quizzes / Role Play

30%  Projects

16%  Final Exam

I am require to grade on a curve, which means not everyone can receive an A+. The breakdown goes as follows : Top 30% A, Middle 40% B, and Bottom 30% C, D, or F.

Assignments

This class meets for three hours each week. During each class, we will cover anywhere from two lessons to one unit from the textbook. After each class, students are responsible for covering the appropriate workbook pages at home. This schedule may change depending on missed classes due to vacations and holidays. During other classes, students will work on various projects in their project groups. The projects will be fully explained during the semester. Also, various handouts will be supplied to answer all additional questions. If there are still questions, please do not be afraid to ask, so that I can help you. And finally, classes will consist of various activities such as whole class activities, pair work, group activities, pronunciation drills, conversations, debates, interviews, writing exercises, online scavenger hunts, and many other activities.

Syllabus

Students must attend class everyday. Students are allowed one unexcused absence during the semester, but all other absences must be excused with an official document from the student's department. Unexcused absences will result in a lower grade. Students who are absent more than 15 class hours will fail the course. Tardiness is understandable, but only to a certain extent. If you are constantly late without an adequate excuse, participation points will be deducted. And finally, check online and listen in class for any changes. Additional Notes

Some behaviors are mot acceptable and will also result in a lower grade. These include using cellular phones, using excessive Korean, disrupting your classmates, eating or drinking during our English class time. And finally, IF you cell phone rings or vibrates during class DO NOT answer it! But most importantly, if we work together and try together we will also learn together!
